It is vestigial. It has little effect. It does allow an easy baffle swapping option and allows the fitting of wider and/or deeper drivers.

The FH3 has much less need for a wide sB, which would push the BS frequency down lifting up the lower midrange somewhat.

As I suspected, the drivers are being held in UK customs, I presume so that they can dream up new ways to remove more cash out of my wallet... :(

It took them just 3 days to get from the US and they have since been languishing in some dark warehouse somewhere near the capital.

Well, I have the drivers now. I am hoping someone can point me to a supplier of felt / wadding so I can get some ordered. I am STILL undecided about what to build them out of but I wil have to make the decision in a weel or so. Many thanks,

Are the frugal horn flatpaks still available? I've tried emailing David at Planet 10 but never received a response.

David is over on the West Coast Can-a-da - a long way from anywhere apart from the west coast. Where are you?

If i did my apologies... i can't find anyunansered inquiries.

You want to talk to Colin Topps(y) anyway. He is still doing flat-paks. Post from Manchester a whole lot less than from the left coast of Canada.

Just finished building a pair of Frugal Horns.

Mark Audio CHR-70

Hours and hours of work to get the piano gloss finish right but I'm pretty damn happy with them.

Not running them through any special amp at the moment but the sound is incredible. I was super impressed with the bass response for such a small speaker. Wow!

Would not suit me though, B & Q matt magnolia when I get round to painting mine. :)

And yes, they are very good sound wise. Do you use yours in corners ?

As Phil, no good me having anything like that in my place either, only a question of time before they're scratched / kicked / spilt on, not to mention the dust fairies
