http://en.toutlehautparleur.com/fostex-fx120-8ohm.html
Good prices , but website rejects my credit card payment for 2x FX120.
No response to query on this - probably on holiday !

maybe because it's an 'on order' item Mark.
On order items cannot be cancelled according to the blurb so in that case maybe they do not want to take your payment until it's in stock.....maybe.......lead time on this one is quite long

That makes sense Ed - I'll try & contact by email & see if they can acknowledge the order somehow.

is more valid than the equation 2 ( FX120 ) = AER .
Good news, if so ... both on cost and availability .
Nope !
Serves me right for testing speakers while sitting just outside the room & quite a bit off-axis.
The Fe103e/FF105WK array has marginally better midrange tone but is pretty nasty at times when sitting on-axis - not listenable long-term.
It may be possible to fashion a sort of inside-out roof edge of a baffle where the two pairs of drivers are facing inwards somewhat, say about 20 degrees from face-on, and run them that way - ought to work .. but messy to make, especially out of Perspex which would be the ultimate aim.

So, I think for the interim solution a pair of FX120's each side is the answer. I just swapped back to this set-up and did more listening in the real listening position, and it copes very well with a selection of music and it really has plenty of tone. Now I just need to actually get hold of some of these for myself ( this pair is loaned ! ) .

Now I can't even send an email to them
When I try to send the email, the mailbox is returning this error message -
Capture3.PNG
Capture3.PNG (7.65 KiB) Viewed 7080 times
So it's not even a proper 'bounce back'.
It fair to say I'm getting pretty wazzed-off here. Must go out for a walk.

I think the budget and facilities are a result of the skill and time JJ has put into the 'game' .

Actually it turned out that MasterCard had blocked the payment because it looked suspicious. They're notorious - these untrustworthy French type-people with their garlic and bunches of onions eh ?
Sorted that out after a phone call, and just successfully ordered one pair - in theory at least.
If this works I'll order another pair, just a little bit cautious atm given the rather good price and the back-order situation.

Edit : Just discovered about 8 emails from TLHP hiding in the Spam folder  . Hoping to arrange two pairs now - they have 10 units coming in in October. These may be from the last of current production.

Been trying to test the OB to finalise the tweeter high-pass today - without much success. Dunno if Ed is around, if so, Audiotester is producing perplexing results. I seem to get a frequency curve from the white noise ( from CD ) signal I feed the system - and it changes ever so slightly with different captures - so I believe I'm receiving some data which IS being processed - however the FR looks awfully choppy in the 1k to 10k regions, several +/-5dB peaks/dips. Not really expected from the drivers I'm using and the quality of the sound. The FR rolls off around 15kHz which might mean the new soundcard on this PC is 14-bit ? I have the 24-bit one I acquired a while back, which I saved from the old PC , haven't tried to fit this.
All I really want to do is check the area around 5 to 8kHz to set level and high-pass point. Having clip-leaded a 2.7uF cap across the 3.9uF I have on the tweeter and seen nothing at all happen to the frequency curve, this is where I started to lose heart.
I will just have to use my ears if I can't make headway on this.
