Like most on here, my opinion of products is formed by empirical experience.
As far as turntables go I have had belt drive, direct drive and idler drive. At the moment my deck is a 401 in a Lake District slate plinth.
I did try and build the best belt drive deck possible using a Logic DM101 as the basis, but the 401, and my back-up Yamaha direct drive are (in my humble opinion) preferable.
Here is the home made belt drive special, I still have it somewhere.
