Something that intrigued me about the Fender Custom Shop bass was the four holes between the bridge and the bridge pickup.

Then it hit me - they were there because Fender fitted string mutes as standard.
A quick dig around and hey presto!

Not just Fender, but Musicman also Chris. My 70's stingray has them fitted.

Mine are in even worse condition than that fella's!^^^

I was grooving away with Bob 'n the Wailers today and the string mute posts on this thread popped into my head when 'Catch a fire' kicked off with Concrete Jungle...

^^^There's a great example of string mutes in action IMO.

Mangler Junior just turned 15, and accumulated a fair few gifts of cash.
He's now in love with one of these beauties ....

I don't think his birthday money (plus a bit of pocket money) is going to last very long
My boy has good taste in guitars.

I'd like to sing the praises and raise the profile of bricks & mortar music shops.
Mangler Jnr bought the Les Paul Junior, and within a couple of weeks brought a problem to my attention. The guitar has an adjustable zero fret nut, and there was a problem with strings catch on the zero fret itself, and making pinging noises in the process.

A replacement part was procured from Gibson and sent to us.
I fitted it, but we now had an issue with there being quite a horrible overtone coming off the low E string.
I contacted the shop (Reidys Music in Blackburn) and spoke with the chap who had dealt with the issue from the off.
Now coincidentally the Gibson rep was turning up at the shop, so the guitar was put into its hardshell case and we hightailed it off to Blackburn.

It was ascertained that the string was not sitting properly in the string guide, and the nut files were dug out from the back of a drawer.
The guide was then filed to allow the string to sit properly, and the strings put back into their respective slots and tuned up.
The horrible overtone had gone and the guitar is back to its fine sounding self.

So big thanks from Alex and I to John at Reidys, and Nick at Gibson.
Their efforts are hugely appreciated, and they've both gone the extra mile to sort things out.

Now while we were there we had a look at the Martin X series guitars, and both Alex and I want one each.
We'll get them too, and we'll get them from Reidys because of the quality of service they give.
We're happy and satisfied customers :D

Yes, it's nice to know there is still such a thing as good customer service around.

Tuner is a reference to show how massiff the Ukulele is.

"It must be a really good Yook because it cost nearly £20...." I was informed by my smirking Stepson who's getting exactly the same for Christmas, we're gonna have a Uke-off.
