If I do well in my final A-level exams, that's what I'm treating myself to. If I like it, obviously - the local music shop can get one in for me to try, but I haven't done so yet.

Nice!!! :)
I hope you buy from your local music shop if they go to the effort to get one in for you to try ;)

If I ever learn to play the one I have and won the lottery, I think I would like something like this.

What did you expect :-)

I would probably end up thinking about something like a Ibanez AF 105 instead of a ES-175 for reasons of cost.

We rehomed a dog last week to someone who runs a vintage guitar shop, we talked at length about 335's, maybe it would have been better if I hadn't had the conversation. Old ones are getting very expensive was the essence of the conversation.

I know its a knock-off of the original, but I've had one of these for a while...

Though in sunburst.

£240, and there's a guy at college (that owns a Fendr Jag. and a Gibson something-or-other) that's wanting to buy it off me.

Chris - yep, I probably will. Will probably go for it in black - they do them in orange or yellow, but I'm not too keen on how they look. That said, they're always nicer in reality than in pictures on t'interweb.

now here's a thing one of these SRV strats has come up as a project,
the only thing that puts me off is the reversed tremolo, has anyone played one or has any thoughts

You'd get used to the tremolo thang.

Always struck me as a bit of an odd thing to do, 'cos the arm would get in the way of your hand if you were to plonk your hand on the bridge to damp the strings, but there you go.

SRV did it 'cos of Hendrix having the bridge that way round on his guitars, and he reckoned that it was part of the mojo of Hendrix' sound.

Yeah I think I could get used to it, I didn't know it was because of Hendrix
he has a lot to answer for, actually in the recording I've got I can't remember SRV using it

do you know anything about SRV'S neck profile Chris?,

I would have to buy a neck, Warmoth do offer the SRV profile but there's lots of other options, I have to bear in mind the resale value as well

by the time I'd finish the only SRV thing would be the body

Difficult to answer that one. He used to wear scarves a lot so it's difficult to judge his shirt collar size.

Arf!
