I'd be inclined to go for a Vintage Modern neck, with the compound radius and the SRV neck profile.
The SRV profile is on the larger side of Strat necks, but still comfy to play.
The compound radius should make the feel quite similar to Stevie's squeeze - the radius of the fingerboard on his No.1 had flattened due to regular refrets.
Stevie had a real delicate touch (not), and used to chew frets up for fun.
On the Hendrix sound - I think it was the bridge pickup being the opposite way round that was so important
However, on a right handed guitar it just looks godawful - I think that if you wanted a pukka Jimi sound then you're best off getting a lefty and then doing the necessary.
You'd find it a bit more difficult to reach the top frets, but hey, it didn't stop Jimi, did it?

Jimi's fingers were nine inches long!
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Got one of these for my stepson's 18th-Nick wrote:What did you expectThis thread seems to have descended into the depths of guitar pornography
I would probably end up thinking about something like a Ibanez AF 105 instead of a ES-175 for reasons of cost.
Ibanez RG T6. He wanted a Gibson Prophecy SG, but ended up preferring the Ibanez.

Yes, it was nice until his flatmate had some friends round while he was out, after a few beers they thought it would be a good idea to go into his room and take the guitar out of it's case to hook it up and one of them fell over with it causing some severe damage. My stepson was devastated.
The flatmate agreed to pay the several hundred pounds repair cost after I made it clear I'd take it out of his face if he didn't.

Been having a bit of a play with the pickup switching on my Strat - it's capable of straying into the Gibson camp, so there are some rather interesting switching options....

Funnily enough that's the only thing they haven't done with the bridge pickup - a coil tap that is.chris661 wrote:Hey and with a bit of cleverness you could disguise a push-pull coil tap switch as a tone control...
Would have been nice...
Maybe the thinking was along the lines of "hey, this guy has just bought a Strat with a humbucker in the bridge, so he doesn't want a single coil pickup in the bridge position at all".
I might just drop Fender a line......

sorry to go off topic again,
OK I've bought the SRV body complete with a correct new tremolo unit,
now has any body got any thoughts as to pick ups and what wire up scheme
to use, sadly without doing some routing I cant fit a humbucker I could buy an SRV set up but I don't know that's what I want
1st thing is to acquire the gelt to buy a Warmouth SRV profile neck I rather fancy an all maple one
