PI-DAC+ (from IQaudIO) in its new box. Slightly crazy-faced look about it...

Unfortunately, the amp it was going to be connected to has died (for the moment)...

On Greg's recommendation, I'm going to trial it too... Looks like a really interesting product...

I've not got it set up yet but I've played with it at Nick's place and really like it. Much better to my current system of using Ickstream through Squeezepad to stream Tidal. I have bought a 12 month license which will be activated as soon as I set Roon up. The lifetime membership looks good, but I considered that things seem to be moving so fast in the streaming world that I would wait and see what else develops.

I currently use my RPi with a digi+ board into my Beresford Caiman II which I'm really happy with but I would be interested in feedback on the IQaudIO dac and especially how it compares to a stand alone dac.

Ha! That looks exactly like mine! However, I now use my TDA DIY DAC with an RPi and Max2play. Supports streaming from NAS, Apple Music or Spotify

You wouldn't believe how difficult it is to find a left-handed right-angled IEC 60320 C13 (kettle lead) plug... (it's not 1st April)

99.99% of the ones out there are "right handed" - look at some and you'll see what I mean... In all the years I've been doing this stuff, I never realised that there were two types, and that almost everything went one way...

I needed a "left-handed" one for a new PSU going into a media centre I'm building - the new PSU is a 270W one as I'm upgrading the the CPU, adding a super-fast GPU and putting in temperature controlled super-quiet PWM fans, so the old 150W PSU was not enough...

The new PSU has to fit inside a very small and already cramped case and as the PSU is mounted transversely, a right angled mains plug is essential. The PSU can't be mounted upside down as otherwise it'll be a b*tch to fix and its mounting flanges will catch the memory on the motherboard (mini-ITX form factor)... :(

Firstly, finding a super-small, quiet & efficient 270W PSU was tricky, then to find it had this really annoying oddly-orientated IEC 60320 C14 socket... nb. cannot rotate the socket in the PSU by 180degrees as its effectively welded in there :(

Pah!

Showing problem with a normal "right-handed" cable.

Spade connectors onto IEC socket pins and a ton of strain relief :)

On Ebay they do a right angled adaptor, an "up" version or a "down" version, but in your case it would be left, or right.

See them in this list of right angle IEC adaptors.

As mentioned, as it's transversely mounted, it has to be a right angled connector.... I had thought about spade connectors in Sugru or Polymorph but that'd be messy, I also looked at the ones on eBay but they are all nonmoulded and too bulky or they'd block the airflow from the PSU - the box is very cramped...

Eventually I found a moulded low profile lefty cable on RS for just a few quid. Free delivery - should have it tomorrow....

Just odd that just about every one you'll ever see goes the other way... Why are simple jobs never simple...

I always seem to make assumptions about critical components that prove to be incorrect at the vital moment, requiring a modest re-design at the least. :(

Turn the IEC socket around 180 degrees? I've done that before! :D

Already considered - see my previous comment - can't do that without destroying the PSU :(

Oh right, missed that bit. Anyway you're sorted now?
