To me, Apple is an anathema.

I've never owned any product of theirs, and have no wish to.

And why is Apple an anathema and why is it thet every time I mention anything Apple, the flack starts.
I'm merely recounting an exprience, not being a shill for the bloody firm.
Jesus Christ! I'll keep my fecking mouth shut in future.

SOD IT!

Steady on Steve, I'm just expressing MY opinion.

I have no wish to denigrate any one elses experience of the product. If YOU like the product then bravo to you. :)

It does beg the question, given the latter, how did you arrive at the former opinion?

I'm not sure whta was originally a problem for Steve would matter to me if I went onto Apple music.

Occasionally I consider whether to subscribe to paid for streamed music. (i have spottify with adverts).

The last concept which seemed interesting was joining Amazon Prime, I think it may be same cost as apple but with free next day delivery on amazon orders thrown in. Also whatever other services there are (is it films?) additional to streamed music. Though I have no time for films in general.

My present method of improving my music library is to buy charity shop cd's and itunes match them. Costs less than subscription to any provider. Yes there is less new music, but there is sufficient for a person with a full life that can't sit around listening to music very pften or for very long.

I buy the majority of my CDs from charity shops. :)

And, just recently, a couple of classical "job lot" CDs off Ebay at very attractive prices .

I guess I just "don't like" the brand, no specific reason.

There are lots of brands I don't feel the need to be involved with, BMW cars being one, but strangely enough I like BMW motorcycles.

Seems to me that having Phil (and Mike, in this case) 'having a go' is rather like being 'savaged by a dead sheep'. snicker.

I didn't do Apple until recently there are a few Apps on Apple that really are superb for music making which aren't on android or p.c., so I bought a couple of cheap old Apple ipads - they really are quite good. I don't need them but its interesting.

Itunes seems a mess to me and only exist to rob me of my hard earned so I steer clear - I looked up several pieces of music, which weren't to be found so I don't need that. And, as someone said, uTube has lots and indeed one of my searches ....bingo! even of the quality is not as high as could be desired, its still fabulous. (e.g. 'Sea Train' 1967 album, only ever made into a CD in Germany)

As for the rest well I'm glad MrC senior finds joy from this source.

OK
It's quite clear that this is yet another trashed thread simply because Apple has been mentioned.
I have reported my experience of Apple Music, have talked about it in a balanced fashion and have been extremely critical of the concept, where it has been warranted.
The thread is not a fanboy piece of Apple arse licking and yet the ill informed attacks are evident, first from mr MCRU "I hate Apple" then from Phil "Apple is an anathema"
These kinds of comments offer nothing constructive. They do not even express any form of viewpoint, because the posters either are unable or unwilling to back up their so-called opinions with any kind of fact so the only conclusion that can be reached is that they are simply attemts to wind up the OP and frankly it is tiresome.

Let's get things straight. I do not and have never jumped into anyone's thread about for example Vortex Boxes, Raspberry Pi setups NAS solutions or Windows problems and made comments, designed for no purpose other than mischief and I would want the same courtesy in return, but that, it appears is too much to hope for, which is a shame.

So basically what I would say to thread crappers, is either back up what you have to say with facts or don't post. It may be good entertainment, but this particular member is just bored with it. It is first world problems and unimportant, and as such, I'm not prepared to waste any more ink on it.

I think that comments made were (sort of) relative to the thread, so not "thread crapping" in my view.

Also, why is it so sinful to express an opinion without being pressed to offer explanations why that opinion is held. Was that not one of the reasons that Nick started this forum ?

I don't like Apple, and I don't feel the need for their products.

I have absolutely no problems if others like the product, they seem to have made a "fortune" over the years so lots of people must be willing punters, and at the end of the day it's just a matter of personal choice.Would you deny anyone that choice ?

I am sorry if Steve feels offended, but that is his problem, not mine.

I was not "having a go". I'm on my second iPhone and I use iTunes. All I meant was I don't trust Apple Music, so was agreeing, in that I'm wary it might muck up my files. For similar reasons I won't use icloud or Amazon prime. (Sure I saw somewhere Amazon prime is a monthly subscription, or rather you have to buy something every month? If so I've done that kind of record / book clubs before, never again! :D )

Whether someone likes Apple or not is completely irrelevant to this thread.
Let's use Vortexbox as a convenient example of what I am trying to get across here:
I know one of our lot has a couple of Vortexboxes and enjoys using them for streaming music around their home, which is great.
I would advise anyone to look at that thread and find me a single piece of evidence that anyone has gone on there and made comments that deride the Vortexbox, say it is anathema or is a piece of crap or that they hate the maker of said device.

I don't give a flying toss what the "I hate" and the "anathema" posts say, lets be clear about that for one thing.
What I DO care about is the idea that it is acceptable to drop comments like those into a thread that was running perfectly sensibly without them. I don't start these confrontations and I sure as hell am not going to back down for the sake of a quiet life. Those comments were dropped in by both protagonists, for one purpose and one purpose only and it was not to express an opinion.
Don't like Apple? Fine.....as I said I couldn't give a crap. I don't like Windows for example but you don't see me wading into threads concerning that operating system. I'm not interested in them so I stay out of them because I can't contribute anything constructive, so what would be the point of posting?
Can we move on now?
I won't mention anything Apple again on this forum, if you don't.
