#1 Adaptive USB

Post by Cressy Snr »

Am currently trying out the USB audio input on my mk1 Musical Fidelity M1 DAC. Sounds bloody good to me?
Adaptive USB is obsolete, regarded as inferior and has long since been superseded by asynchronous USB, so why does it sound so musical and un-digital?
Looks like I'm rapidly getting further and further behind the curve. :(

When you get to the back of the class with me we can throw paper darts at each other with rude jokes about the teacher on them.

I am so far behind the digital world when I want to seriously listen I put vinyl on, when not I plug ipad straight into the phono in. Ipad has replaced computer almost 100%.

I suppose there is a pad to useb dacermyjig I should be using, but don't want to show myself up by asking.

And there was me thinking that USB was, well, just USB.

I've heard of USB1, USB2 & USB3 but thought it was just a difference in file transfer speed.

Obviously I AM the spotty dunce in the back of the classroom.

Does this help ?

PS I read the above and I think I understand now. :)

Hi Phil,
I read that too, and lots of other stuff.
The usual thing happens, lines are drawn, slagging off ensues, sides are taken, blah blah blah and anyone looking for information ends up none the wiser.
Anyway my ears tell me that the M1 Dac's adaptive USB sounds excellent. It also tells me there is a lot more to digital transmission than sub-femtosecond jitter figures.

I think I am getting far too old to be at the cutting edge.
Where's me pipe and slippers?
