I (and others) were impressed by Nicks mosfet amp at Owston.

I was thinking (quite dangerous), if one did not need the all that power could one of those SOT-227 mosfets be used as single ended ? Or am I taking out of my bottom.

I'm not expecting Nick to give away anything "secret", or divulge details that may compromise him selling the amps commercially.

Yes of course.

Maybe topic should be entitled MOSFET Follies. :D

(There's a fairly well known web page of that name, or was, showing ways of adding MOSFET''s to valve circuits for various functions.)

Having known Mr Gorham for about 7-8 years now and heard most of his offerings (jfet phono stage, F5 amp, ref phono stage which I own) and of course all his various power supplies given its his (probably) first attempt at a mosfet amp I was stunned when it was playing through the Graham speakers I brought with me.

A shitty laptop as source as well I think?

I ordered mine already!

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on P channel vs N channel mosfets for audio use?

Just FYI, the mosfets I used were IXTN110N20L2 and IXTN90P20P

Oops, just realised that I assumed you were running single ended off one device, never occurred to me that they were PP. Serves me right for not taking more notice, or even being able to count there were 2 driver boards on each amp :(

Still, its got me mumbling about mosfets again, and re-reading some of Papa Pass's notes about them

I was told it's p-p, each device is driven with a Nelson Pass F4 amp, then there's a power amp controller front-end chip at the input. I've seen the data for one of these but can't find it now.

Dog with 2 dicks springs to mind when I think about those prototype amps at Owston.

Not sure I would express it that way but certainly I endorse the sentiment. Lovely amps.
