Hi All
Well just received my Nelson pass Camp amp Pcbs
A little winter project coming up using it as a headphone power Amp plan is to just use resistors on the output and drive the headphones directly form the speakers outputs
and using a regulated or F4 type PSU and not the computer PSUs and described in the article's
Any thought on this and psu are welcome

Ok so what component choice for this amp
I have decided to go with good components from the off for this amp pcbs thus avoiding the danger of track lifting later
I think plan is to use takman carbons for all ¼ watt and mills 5 watt for R1.2.3.4?
Caps C3 Os-con C1/2/4 perhaps silmic or cerafines
Any other suggestions on cap and resistors other than mills for r1/2/3/4

C1 I would use a 3300uF good quality electrolytic with a 4u7 PP and a 0.5uF PIO all in parallel
C2 & C4 cerafines, etc. would be splendid.
C3 I would use a 10uF Mundorf EVO Al and a 0.5uF PIO in parallel
Takman seem a good choice - certainly carbon comp is fine. Mills is a good choice but I would go with Dale's non-inductive WW.
But really its a matter of taste with the good stuff!
James.

Hi James
Yes I agree it's down to taste with the good stuff
I was just running with my suggested part as I have used them in my valve amps forgot about the dale WW
Yep using bypass caps as you have suggested would be a good idea but a problem as the pcb is too small for this a point to point version could be on the cards if the amp is good enough

just an out there thought...but
the aca thread runs to more than 130 pages on diyaudio....which I guess means there is a huge amount of experience of building this amp....
If you havn't tried this question on the aca thread can I suggest that you do as you will likely get chapter and verse on what works and what doesn't...
as I said, just a thought

I'd read the whole lot Colin. You've got the time and any tit bits of info could be invaluable.ed wrote:just an out there thought...but

Yes I have been there too but have not asked this question as it was just a passing thought I had on what components were best brand favour's of the members here and not so must about the amp its self

Received a pair of these heatsinks for the amp this morning from rapid nice quality units
http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-C ... -W-50-0226
Rapid have improved there heatsink range plus other component ranges
