#1 T amps

Post by pre65 »

I wondered if there are any "tricks" for getting a T-amp to sound better, ie better than crap.

Mine has a Calv.Acoustic Lab. PCB and a Tripath TA2020-020 chip.

The Audio digit PSU is 15-0-15 inlet and each transformer sec is 1.7A.

I either have to get some decent sound from it, or bin it.

Buy a Temple Audio Bantam Gold. Not the cheapest, but very good IMHO. I use two to drive the OB's actively with a DCX2496.

Nice one Ali, but I don't need (or want ) any more amps.

Just trying to make the best out of whats to hand. This T-amp came FOC with the first Fostex speaker cabs I purchased so I didn't buy it on purpose. :)

To be honest, I may be overstating the "crapness" of this little amp, I'm trying it again on my computer speakers and it's not as bad as I remember.

EDIT

I spoke to soon, "transistor earache" is starting already after only 10 mins.

Thomann sure did a number on those. No use in trying to mod it IMHO. You could use the chassis and some of the stuff inside for a nice DIY project.
