#1 Pioneer SX-7730

Post by pre65 »

I have been offered a Pioneer reciever SX-7730, and it seems the "black" faced ones were fairly rare.

It's from a freecycle contact so I am going to pick it up and have a play.

Seems it's been sitting in a garage unloved for a while.

Could de with a check over then inside for corrosion and stuff and make sure it isn't damp before you turn it on!

I picked up the Pioneer amp this morning, it looks a bit sad !

Anyway it's getting acclimatised to indoors conditions at the moment.

The nice old boy also gave me a Technics SL1310 direct drive turntable. It's an automatic one but it looks good.

If I get any more turntables I shall be called "Cressy" !

Do Check the voltage selector pins as this holds moisture if the receiver had got to cold this happend to my pioneer amp that amp looks like a higher power version of my amps

I've taken the wood case off, and the metal base plate.

Using an artists paint brush and dyson all the interior dust and crud have been removed and the voltage selector removed and the pins cleaned. Looks OK really.

They did like their wire wrapping didn't they.

Probably won't try powering it up till tomorrow now.

Pioneer certainly like wre wrapping, not sure about anyone else. :D

If it's that rare worth hanging onto if only as a "museum piece"

A museum piece ?

I see one of those every time I look in the mirror !

I think it's only "rare" in the USA cos they did not get the black one.

You do have a rare SX-7730 version if you're looking for the service manual try vinyl engine look for the SX-737 or the 727 close to it
