#1 F2 revisited

Post by ed »

I was going to post this a few days ago but got side tracked.

NP is looking at an update to F2 using this:

http://www.semisouth.com/products/uploa ... v1.3.0.pdf

1200 volts, 136 watts, 13 amps.

be afraid!, apparently its from the electric/hybrid car arena. The thread on diyaudio has now veered towards talk of direct drive electrostats. Buuut $60 each.

the chatter is here if anybody is interested:

Very very interesting. And 1/5th of the distortion of the original F2 apparently.

Two new amps from Nelson about to emerge (J2 and M2) and some lucky diyaudio bods have heard them. The consensus was the J2 is the best one yet. If they are right then that is going to be some amp.

Ian

just to update you if you havn't seen this development:

there's a new kid on the block regarding the semisouths, and he is paypal savvy, and a bit cheaper than the last chap......

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/swap-mee ... price.html

although Nelson is not letting out the J2 details there are a number of circuits bubbling to the surface.....

Thanks Ed, not seen that. I reckon NP will eventually release the schematic.

Not counting the F2 use, that part would make a cracking HV shunt reg device.

An update to the original post..I think Nelson put this up some time ago but it didn't get any publicity here(AFAIK):

Srajan from 6 moons has reviewed a prototype amp from NP and is blown away by it; he's ordered a mono block version of the commercial amp that will follow at some point - even though it's still just a concept
