#1 B&C 8PE21 drivers for sale

Post by IslandPink »

Reluctantly selling pair of 8" B&C drivers to raise money for other 'stuff' .

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/14153/ ... 8pe21.html

8-ohm ; ~98dB/w, 250W rms ; ferrite magnet .
Nice flat response , good tone, beautifully built . Ideal for PA midrange, horn driver or OB at slightly higher playing volumes than I intend to use.
One of the best response curves for a driver of this sensitivity .

£139 for pair ( plus postage ) ovno .

One driver used for eg. 100 to 150Hrs , other driver barely used. Can provide pics in a day or two for anyone interested . Original boxes .

Hey Mark, are these still available?

I'm looking to make some slightly more compact PA speakers, and these would be perfect.

What would postage to Sheffield be?

All the best

Hi Chris ..yes, still here ...great !
Postage might be £10 or £12, but call it £130 all-inclusive to you - OK ?
I'll have a rummage for the boxes tonight. I think I have a bigger box to put the pair into with some packing, too. Can get them in the post ( with a bit of luck ) on Friday while I'm packing for hols in Lakes.
Let me have your details on PM .

Sounds like a good price, Mark.

I've sent you a PM regarding the discrepancies between the datasheet you've linked and the manufacturer website - just want to make sure I'm getting mid-bass drivers instead of the dedicated midrange unit that the link further up the page suggests.

No, if you look at the Qts and response, they are really a midrange driver for use in a sealed box or a horn and crossed at 150-200Hz. You can put them on a ported box and get a bit lower but the phase-shift will make it hard to interface to a bass driver.
What you really need is a pair of Eminence Deltalite II 2515's to pair with them :D .... or a pair of Fane Studio 8M , which wil reach a little lower ; but they are still really a pro midrange unit.

Just let me know about the above two options ...
I will stop boxing-up anything for now then.

Having played with them for a while, I can safely say I'm done with 15" PA tops. There's more to be had if you put the <100Hz stuff on the floor, and getting the brutes on to stands is a 2-man job.

Got 4x Beyma 15P1200Nd drivers, so I'll be putting those into some cabinets for bass duties. Just need to figure out 100-1kHz. A chunky EV DH1a takes over from there up to 15kHz or so.

The 10"s you have might do the job, but I'm looking for something that'll take some abuse if I'm going for larger midbasses - I was going to double up the 8"s to get the power handling and cone area up, ideally to the ~500w area.

Some thinking to be done, methinks - might end up going bigger yet...

Lucky nobody bought these - it was a bad decision to put them up for sale. Using them now again and they sound great - better than the FE208Ez . Almost had another Supravox 285GMF mistake on my hands there :!:

OK, back on sale. They are almost ideal - but not quite, so I have to reluctantly sell to make space and get a few quid towards what I really need on OB . Price £129 or near offer now.

Easy payment terms available....
Would just like to get these out if nothing else, would free up space & a bit of cash to get the OB project moving again :D ( likely FF225WK purchase ) .

However... just think first what you would do with them. They are rather like FE208Ez's in spec, so would be fun to hear them on the Fostex 208 BLH, with a tweeter . They would probably need a little notch filter to soften the 3kHz peak, but are otherwise quite benign-sounding with very good midrange tone - better than most of the Fostex drivers.
On an MLTL I'm not sure what you would get - it would be a bit different cabinet than the one you have for Alpairs , lower Qts for the B&Cs. Scott can probably advise, or look for any MLTL cabinets done for FE206 or 208 .
