What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?
#2161 Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?
Just got home from Bath where we've been to see Kate Rusby live on her Christmas tour. Beautiful singing as always and great music all round from the band, which included a small brass section that worked really well.
Apparently she's recently been made a 'freeman' of Barnsley; doesn't quite fit with her talking about coming from Paradise...
Anyway, if you haven't heard any of her music I recommend you do.

Neil Ardley- Kaleidoscope Of Rainbows
Been listening to this a lot recently.
Ardley certainly wrote excellent compositions.
Stellar musicians too.....Ian Carr, Barbara Thompson, Tony Coe etc
Saw Barbara Thompson's second las gig with Colosseum.
Still awesome even though frail from the affects of Parkinson's disease.

I was listening in the music room earlier and the boy came in(he's 7 years old) and said 'is that captain horsehead?'
he's a tad confused but I think he's been paying attention...I felt all proud.

Good work Ed - formative years. 'My smile disturbed - I cannot go back your frownland'.
Love the Rendel Carr quintet albums. Do you have any opinions about Nucleus ?

Just seen your message. Well coincidentally I have just played "W'ell Talk About It Later" which is my favourite Nucleus album.IslandPink wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2017 9:45 pm Good work Ed - formative years. I have all their others too I think and like them all. No too long ago I had a really nice conversation with John Marshall. Really nice bloke, very humble. What a career he's had!
I think you and I would get on fine as we have a lot of music likes in common!

One of the best gigs I have seen was Ian Carr and a version of Nucleus at a Norwich Jazz Festival in the 80'sShaman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 8:35 pmJust seen your message. Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

Jaco Pastorius "Word of Mouth"
L.A. Express "Shadow Play" Backing band for Joni Mitchell at one point and a fine album.
Now listening to Theo Travis "Open Air" beautiful trance like flute. Underrated sax and flute player in my opinion.Seen him many times and has been on tour with Steven Wilson.

...and Gong too, I've seen him many times too with them. There was some very enjoyably gigs when Didier AND Theo were both in the line up, but ...."That's another story, now's the time to go and find The cuppa tea, see"
