Suddenly I'm wondering how long two car batteries will last ... Image

(that is to say one battery per 833A)

Not a feasible option due to size, and cost.

At least the car batteries would not hum!

Andrew can I take another 6 of the small boards please?

If you have components spare (especially the smd caps) let me know, but happy to just take 6 of the boards if you have them.

Hi Andrew.

Is there a possibility of the larger board being available in future? What is the primary difference between the large and small board? I would like 4 of the larger one if possible at some point.

Cheers,
Stephen

If there's a bit of demand, I'll get some done. Anymore for any more?

In case I haven't said Andrew, I think these boards are superb. Excellent job, thanks.

Between Geoff and I we have 24 of these in use and more to come.

The part C2220C474J5GACTU I'm finding very hard to get. Farnell not expecting delivery March 2020. RS same. Ebay suppliers don't actually have it. Any ideas? I'm after 16.

HMm, the world seems to have run out of large value C0G capacitors. I wonder how a film would do. I know in testing, that cap mattered, but I don't remember if film was tried.

I think I'm about to find out but have no reference. Polyester or polypropylene; metalised. What type does the panel think would be the option here ?

Stephen

We tried a few, and they all seemed to have too much inductance. I seem to remember the first cap that sounded properly open across the full frequency band was the Z7R ( is it ) ceramic layer cap. It had some 'grit' in the upper mids and treble, but it cured the basic problems we were having with all the small box poly-props.
