Yeah, I want to learn a bit more by reading then asking then doing. There might be an odd 'hurrrumph' thrown in for good measure too occasionally but I don't where that might fit in the proceedings currently. Mind you, it'd be great if good sounds come out of it too as a bonus.
Aaaah, i/p TXs, double ahaha's, I assumme thats only a good thing if the source can actually drive a transformer.

No input TX, 6C45 was CCS loaded into a para-fed and gapless output TX.
hope that helps.

So, gapless would imply a PP output transformer ?
If it's any help Dave you can have my pair of Hammond 125D universal output transformers.
Details here.

No, it could just be wound for parafeed operation. So, gapless would imply a PP output transformer ?

Yes, Nick's right, it was wound for parafeed, hence no gap, so more inductance and hopefully better bass.
The 6C45 was shunt regulated too.

Ah right, ta AndrewL.
Gapless OP TX as there's no DC standing current for it to handle I'm guessing? I did a Parafeed a long time ago and 'got away' with mains torroids as OP TX's.
I went off for ride again yesterday, hence no updates for a day or so. I've made a start though, whahey.

I did some years back, used humungous p-p OPT's, 350H I think, or someting like Worked OK but of course the limiting factor is the inductance of the anode choke.I did a Parafeed a long time ago and 'got away' with mains torroids as OP TX's.

Not if you use a ccs

Yep, but never got that far.

I've been doing some research on "powerdrive" for the 833a, and came across a thread on DIY Audio for an 833a spud amp.

Ha! If you' re preamp is sufficiently protected from dc, with a few watts of power the 833 could be one hell of a 'tater amp.
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

But if that counts as a spud amp, then any single output valve with a solid state driver (of any complexity) would also meet the requirements. For that matter, a solid-state amp with a ecc83 at the front would fit.I've been doing some research on "powerdrive" for the 833a, and came across a thread on DIY Audio for an 833a spud amp.

Fairy nooff, so..........how could one make an 833 spudamp in the same manner as e.g. Andrew's 6s45 spudderoo?

You can't unless you allow a source follower to drive the grid.

I was thinking the same sort of thing bit what's the point.
