So are those basically mu-follower stages then ?
Looks very interesting .
Lack of unecessary bass -3dB points is a very good thing. That's one reaon I like the 4P1L with no cathode by-pass and a VR tube on G2 . However, not as much gain for all applications ..

I think you're more likely to hear a change from the type of capacitor used, than a change from 8.2 to 8.0uF . I also agree with Andrew that the tolerance on those caps is likely to be comparable to that difference in value anyway . Definitely go ahead and try it , probably won't be audible if you u...

I've just had my first listen to the horn with the phase plug assembly mounted, using the Fane Studio 8M driver. It definitely sounds better, not hugely, but it's moved in the right direction. I definitely get the impression that some of the HF energy beyond 2Khz has been curtailed, so the effect is...

I didn't realise there were some offers as auctions on that stuff - you little tinker :!: See below for further progress over the weekend . Nearly ready to install now . The idea of the outer collar is to transition down from a ~160mm diameter circle to 10 x 9 cm ( into the horn throat ) over 48mm d...

Thanks for your kind words, Paul . Good to know the postings are of some use/entertainment . Likewise I hope I can provide something of use for your future projects, 'Waveguide' . Ali, the OB perspex is 20mm thick . Meanwhile , some more sculpting from this weekend . This is the 'surround' part of t...

Lynn - re. OB , We've generally heard James's speakers at our group meetings, in large rooms. They are either out in the open 10-15 ft from a perpendicular wall, or a few feet from a corner, with walls behind at 30-40 degrees to the speakers . James would know a lot better how he finalised the desig...

Project 'Teardrop' comes to fruition , see below .
Nothing like a bit of rapid-prototyping ( and Pro-Engineer ) to get things done quickly .
