What happens when you realise you've written a load of rubbish and want to edit posts to make you look less stupid?
Happens quite often with me.

Re: Cheap SUT - AT630 upgrade?
After reading up a bit, I have bought a Pico PC scope and had my first play this afternoon. It comes with a built-in function generator, (think the internal impedance is circa 600R). Fist up was an open circuit sine wave test of the AT630 and comes in at an amplification factor of circa 15 or 23.5dB...

Re: Snail Phono Pre
While I was at it had taken a couple of pics of the SUTs. Does anyone recognise who they might be made by? I have talked to the original builder, and he has suggested that the SUTs fitted were made by a now closed company called Goring. Has anyone heard of them and have any understanding of their l...

Don't know why but I just think the bass is overpowering. Don't listen to mine as a result.

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.
62.2 miles. I had to stop and check this so I could moniior on my Garmin. It meant a couple of small detours going home to ensure that I made the distance.

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.
There are a few challenges this month. This is a single 100k ride they call the Gran Fondo.
Has anyone thought of a Strava Group so you don't have to post stats for individual rides?

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.
Managed my Strava 100k May challenge yesterday with a nice ride up the back of Frodsham and back through Delamere. Nice views over the Dee estuary.

Re: Cheap SUT - AT630 upgrade?
So reading here: https://www.vinylengine.com/step-ups-and-mc-cartridges.shtml, I take it that there are no resistors in the AT630 and it is wound specifically for a 47k/20R ratio. The gain is therefore 48.5, or 26dB. Being such high gain, without increasing the 47k load resistor, cannot be adjusted ...

Re: Cheap SUT - AT630 upgrade?
I am a member of a Group Buy for Cinemag 1245 SUT. The pair are a very similar cost to your Sowter 9570 Price. Thanks JohnG. Had a look but all the latest posts look like the GB remains closed. Must admit I would probably go with Sowter if I were to buy, just a British brand I trust. But I still do...

Cheap SUT - AT630 upgrade?
So have been thinking about further vinyl system upgrades, initially by upgrading the SUTs in my current RIAA amp. But then to future-proof myself, (thinking of a D3a phono at some time), change the current phono to have a 47k load, and buy/build a new off-board SUT box. But what about an AT630 that...

Re: AMPLIFIER PORN!
[Those caps were never designed to have any safety function, and there is probably exposed metal below them. Not David’s fault though, only having a bit of sun with it. Isn't there an articulated test finger of 12mm dia and 80mm long? Suppose this is the same safety concern with any imported or dom...
