the idea is to create a hole a couple of mm bigger than the diameter of the twatter, then we will wrap a rubber strip around the twatter and create a sealed "force fit" into the hole. The unsightly mess will be covered by some nice aluminium plates kindly made by Philip. Yes I was going t...

Whoo spookily similar to Maplin Newton :D I dunno ECC88 is one o' them VHF types, plus not much gain by the looks so Miller effect might not be that bad. Cartridge might want a bit of capacitance loading anyway, depends. http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/kbf/th_shrug.gif Personally I'd consider ...

I'm not criticising, just an observation.

It actually attenuates up to about 500 Hz then goes flat, probably why it's that way round because the combined gain of V1 + V2 is otherwise very large @ >500 Hz.

So if C7+ is 430-ish and V2 anodes 340-ish that's 90V across each 200k, = 450 microamps. Not a lot http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/images/misc/unsure.gif Means 74V across the 82k cathode resistor, so say EF86 anode >=70V. Not too bad. At this point I'd be tempted to scrap the 83's and try ECC8...

Does it work OK? If answer is 'yes', leave it alone http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/images/misc/biggrin.gif Can still put your extra cap on though, why not Edit FWIW mine runs off 300V Mind you it's not a phono3 though.
