Please humour my ignorance. Is not the load resistor the one that goes from signal to ground before the input valve, ie. 47K for most MM carts? If there is also a resisitor in the signal line before that valve, would this also benefit from being a low noise bulk foil type?

Yep, I recon alot of companies have been thinking this way but wondering when to make the move. Linn being one of the so called 'market leaders' have chosen the time to jump and have beaten their competitors assordingly. All the rest will probably follow albeit that some are better set up with hard ...

Hi Mike, It might be useful to post again either here or on a fresh thread what these modules are used for and the benefits they bring. You might get more interest as a result. Remember, not all of us have the technical comprehension other frequent posters here have, and afterall in this circumstanc...

Hi Mike,

This seems to be the case. Thanks for your added contact details, however I suggest that any punter wanting the best current deal from Chelmer on any of Jim's stock use the old Jim Fish phone number as I've published.

Regards,

Greg

Anyone interested in GE Jan 5751 might be interested to know that valve dealer Jim Fish has recently retired and passed his stock and phone number to CVC Chelmer Valve Co Ltd. For a while they can be contacted on Jim's old number, 01484 654650 and they will also honour his price. They have plenty of...

I suppose if you 'articulate' cleverly enough, some people will be persuaded to part with their money?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the offer. I've got sufficient ECC83's. People are reporting good results with 5751 in WAD Phono II/III so I intend to try some.

Greg

Hi Andrew,

Yes, good thinking. I could get the Phillips and keep looking for the GE's. Watford want £25 each plus postage and vat. :(

Hi Al,

It all looks good to me. Thank you for this thread. It's giving me ideas that I hope will please the lady of the house. I've not told her about it yet so please keep suggestions coming. Certainly what you have done seems to be a foundation for me getting some browny points.

Regards,

Greg

Hi Topsy,

Thank you for taking the trouble to post. I have seen those. If I'm going to buy from a dealer, I'll look for GE's, but I know, share and contribute to the generosity members often shown here, so I was just hoping :)

NOS 5751 wanted

Has anyone got any of these to sell? GE and Phillips JAN seem to be the best regarded but I'll consider anything including used. I'm looking for three but will happily take more if available.

Greg
