So if I use the PreIII circuit with the PREII tranformers I should end up with something rasonably good, but it wont fit into a WD chassis, which I don't have anyway so am not worried about?

Sounds to me like they changed the Txs halfway through the life of PreII. WD are having trouble with their tx supplier and can't get hold of any info about old txs at the moment. The later PreII txs are the same size as PReIII, but have leadouts instead of tags. I'm just wondering what the electrcal...
