Strictly speaking Vivaldi is Baroque, not classical. But Thefour seasons is a cracker and Nigel Kennedy does it with verve, alacrity and style. I have other different recordings that are interesting by comparison. That sounds dusty and patronising - yuk. But the point I'm kinda making is that for ea...

Yes Clive that's the circuit. I'd guess the transformer is 300-0-300 at more than 100ma! Yeah I know choke input but you haven't heard this little beast. Could it be improved? I wonder. The PSU caps are bog standard BHC and the 20mfd is not BG but Aerovox. Perhaps you could get rid of the gridstoppe...

Hello Max, Yes I did but I don't know where it is. It is about as minimal as your 211 machine. Paralleled 7F8W into Lundahl 1660s into PP output pair. 12k anode resistor for 7F8W and a cathode resistor(can't remember) and (BG100Mfd)cap. Output pair have a cathode resistor only. PSU is bog standard a...

There's nothing like jumping in right in the middle Anthony; sink or swim, the water's lovely! Rachmaninov was an extraordinary pianist and his piano concertos are famous. Rach.3 was featiured in a strange Australian film called, ... Shine. Very difficult to play, utterly involving piece of music an...

Stuffing hollow fill in horns is something I do well. Doesn't help though! Or rather, if you are systemmatic it may. It does make a difference. Will explained what happens and that seems to be the case, so take it slowly! Your 208s also need some serious thrashing and that will change all sorts of f...

if I didn't have 694,321 amplifiers .... I do have some spare 6S45Pes and I'd like to hear the spud, chez moi! I wonder, does running a 1watt marvel flat out have some 'edge' because it is near the edge, over the luxury of 5 or 10 watts??? There are so many ways of getting just a few watts sounding ...

Ha ha! they are something else though. If I didn't have 493,212 other pairs of loudspeakers I'd have to have a pair. As it is, I am finding it difficult not to pop over to eBay and order a pair of 103s. Not only do I heartily approve of your cycling to the event (I won't tell anyone you caught the t...

Yeah, not bad Max, not sublime but getting there - and thanks for the sensible words. Greg, I am not 'sniping' - You are close to being paranoid and I find your anger actually distressing. I do quip sometimes but I use humour all over the place - one important time I use humour is when I am hurt or ...

Thanks for the warm words my friends! I enjoyed the one day event enormously even though I'd tried hard to wipe myself out the night before. It is very good to see our motley crew, our happy band of brothers again. I think Eggborough is 'awesome' - a much overused word in this day and age, but a pow...

interesting phenomenon #37 when hum comes out of a loudspeaker it is sometimes as if it is on a carrier wave that, to make it simple, every increasing six feet away from the cone you hear the hum but inbetween these 'nodes' you don't hear the hum. Is it me?!? If we stand outside we won't hear the hu...

Mike, I'm about to jump in the car and head back to sweaty office for heated meeting like we do on delightful sunny afternoons when we should have the keys of our helicopters in our hands and be ready for a well deserved luxourious rest in the Bahamas. I have ef37s but only 3. They are to be used in...
