I brought a few (more than 2!) for playing with 'Doe-a-deer-amp' (which I'm frightened of...) but plans are still on-going for that Smile
Ahh, that reminds me of the first 211 breadboard, I had built it but bottled out on turning it on and had to go for a long dog walk to pluck up the courage :-)

You may also want to look out for some Svetlana 6c33c's. When I was messing with the valve, I found the Svets were measurably more linear than the more common Ulyanov ones.

Yep, I think your are right there Dave, The miler cap of a pair of 6sn7 will be in the order of 160pf, The previous stage may have a output impedance of maybe 30k, that puts the -3dB at about 30kHz. It will be a bit more than that as the gain of the 6sn7 stage will be less than 20, but near enough f...

Yes Nick is right. I have an Almarro which is a commercial offering and I don't think the designer has published his circuit. From what I have gathered, Nick is along the right lines. It is the best sounding SET I have heard so the designer is certainly doing something right! I should point out tha...

I wouldn't think so, he posted elsewhere that he had got a Almarro 318. I can't remember the details, but I think its common cathode 6sl7 voltage amp, 6sn7 as a cathode follower with -ve supply for tail directly coupled to the output valve, and a bipassed cathode resistor on the 6c33c. With Cathode ...

Raising the inductor will lower the xover frequency, but you can make up for it by raising the cap a similar amount. In my experience though I wouldn't worry too much over the exact frequency, I tried all sorts and it doesn't make that much difference. At least to my ears.
