Well it didn't blow up and the OB2 sparked into life just fine :D I could have kicked myself though for fitting a long multi-turn cermet trimpot for adjusting the output voltage. It took an absolute age to wind the damn thing far enough to bring the output up to the right volts. I was convinced I'd ...

Right! The regulator is under construction. Got all the sockets mounted at the back of the chassis, where the second choke in the LCLC power supply used to be. I'll wire it up tomorrow. Hope I don't blow myself up. This is as scary as when I built my first scratch build of the Bluebell Loftin- White...

A valve regulator is something I've been going to do for the last 2 years at least.
Never have got around to it, but seeing as I have all the bits, I suppose there are
no excuses now. :)

Well EF37 it is then :D

How about EF86? I'd really like to build the circuit as specified first The reason is that I don't really understand regulators as yet. It's a new area for me entirely. I know how they work but working out the components using a different pentode is something I don't really want to get into just ye...

Thanks guys. That 6336 regulator on the OB2 sheet looks promising. I have a couple of 6336As. Looking at that schematic they've parallelled up the twin triodes in the 6336 to get the 300mA at 300V. According to the data sheet, dropping the cathode resistor values to 27R per leg will easily give half...

High Current HT Regulator

I'd like to run the HT for my 13E1 amplifier, regulated. Said regulator must be able to supply a regulated 300V at 500mA. It'd have to be valve based at that voltage and current I'd assume. I know nothing about how to implement one of these things and would like this to be the next stage of my learn...

To get more power in the bass you need to focus on the output transformer. If power and bass response and lowesh cost is the goal, then 6c33c is hard to beat. I'd second that. I use the 13E1, which is not cheap in comparison to the 6C33C, but it is of similar characteristics to the 6C33C when triod...

Well it's general tweaking time now. Since Christmas, I've changed the front end to a 76 with nice results. The 76 and the 6AQ5 are independently powered, from a 9V transformer, by DIYHiFi Supply DC modules, which means, they are no longer on the same line as the 6CJ7 part of the rectifier bridge. T...

Re the two way concept. That's how I've run my baffles for quite a while now. The Goodmans Axiom 401 is supported up top by a full range driver run via a series cap to block the LF from it, supported in turn at the very top end by twin piezoelectric tweeters. On the face of it, the piezos appear to ...
