well ive jigsawn the base out of my el70 bipole mets, took the legs off and dropped them back onto the main base. so there is no port any more but there is a 15mm slot all the wayaround. seriously, they sound much more together, more neutral and natural. im quite taken aback at the difference. this...

I'd still go out and get the plumbing pipe. I don't much like the things they sell as dedicated posts. High end speakers will often come with machined aluminium pipes. And, with the formula in the pdf i linked, exact diameter is a no car. Once you have a diameter & length, you cn adjust for any ...

It doesn't matter if he can't get exactly 3", it is easy toadjust for variation in diameters.Andplumbing pipe is quite a bitstiffer than what Colin shows.
