Re: Do Car Main dealers rip people off ?

As in anything, there’s good and there’s bad. My gripe isn’t so much with the dealers but with the manufacturers. When I bought my old series 8 Honda Civic it was fitted with roof bars which had been in place for seven years from new. I wanted remove them because they whistled at speed, but the M4 b...

Re: Nothing In Particular

When I left Plessey/Xfab/Zarlink/Mitel in 2004 (can’t remember which name it was using at the time), we had a 0.35um process in house and a 0.18um process which was manufactured for us by TSMC. 0.1um was on the horizon but it was generally thought that that was approaching the limits of what could e...

Re: A little light humour

Thanks for the explanation chaps. Apparently the Kennel Club has a novel variant of this problem. If you wish to register your pooch as Champion Snodgrass Snuffles the 37th, that’s absolutely fine, but you’ll have to think of a new name for his successor. This came up as an issue a while ago. Reason...

Re: A little light humour

On behalf of all those as ignorant as myself, why 2038?

Not that it matters to me. I’ll be 86 and probably past caring!

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Now I think about it, it might have been Skid Row rather tha Budgie. Definitely one or the other tho. So long ago now they all merge into one. I need a Time Machine to go back and check.

Why does autocorrect capitalise Time Machine?

Re: Nothing In Particular

I think it would be naïve to think that things are only true if the Guardian (or whatever source only prints the truth) says so. Wethersfield is local to me, and several people I meet up with (on a regular basis) mix socially with staff from the migrant centre. That (of course) does not mean all &q...

Calm down old chap !! I didn't say it was true, but it might be. And equally well it might not, but don’t let that stand in the way of a juicy bit of xenophobic bullshit. It's only "xenophobic bullshit" if it's not true, and you don't know that any more than I do. Phil, at the bott...

Re: Nothing In Particular

There do seem to be different rules for business, which I never had access to since EE don’t do business broadband. Your setup with a combined copper and fibre line was the first I knew that such a thing existed!
