Thank you Andrew. I had totally and completely forgotten about that album. I now recall the cover and the fact that it was a major favourite, but I can't remember a note of the music so now I'm going to have to track it down and remind myself what it was about. I wonder if I'll still like it?

Friend of mine tried to service his boiler once, and being economically minded he decided to reduce the size of the pilot flame to cut down on gas wastage. He then went upstairs and turned on the shower and heard a loud bang. Returning to the kitchen he found the boiler casing opened up like the pet...

If we were still using old money, we'd need a ha'penny key on our computers, otherwise you'd end up with 19/91/2d, which makes no sense.

Bert Kaempfert is what I regard as a secret vice. Really enjoy it, but I'd never say so in public. It's the bass sound that does it.

So basically the positions of the frets on a conventional guitar are a compromise between the requirements of each individual string? That would make sense.

I'll look at those clips at home. My work PC doesn't have sound :(

No, it looked pretty much like a conventional bass, except for the layout of the frets.

Strange bass. One for DTB maybe.

On Jools Holland last night there was a bloke playing a bass guitar wnich had frets which, rather than being at right-angles to the neck, were laid out so that they radiated out from a point somewhere around the player's left foot. What's that all about then?
