My Nottingham Analogue Spacedeck has 2 similar o-ring rubber damping rings around the platter. These are part of the original design.
I'll experiment by removing them to see if there is any change to the sound.

Nick, sounds (no pun itended) good to me. I think we have a plan. If you're up to helping me out with the breadboard build we can try that amp out with both the 807's and the 300b's, yes :?: We could also experiement with the rectifiers listed below :?: My mate has come up trumps with the valves. Li...

Steve, No worries mate no need to feel bad about it. If the amp works out good I'll take a couple off your hands for some tube rolling. By the way have you played around with tube yourself? I'd be very interested in your findings, how they sound? Simon, It's a slippery slope Colin. Welcome to the cl...

IslandPink wrote Is the cabinet braced at all, inside, Colin ? No there is no internal bracing at all. Just a simple box. The fronts are doubled up the rest is 18mm birch ply single skin. Ed Swift can supply plans. If you prefer the northern ferret holes to the southern slots I can let you have the...

Hang on there MrI, Are you now changing your mind about these tubes :?: I wonder though, apart from giving them away, would they really be better than el34, 6L6, KTetc ? At the beginning of this thread you said: I like them. So as I have faith in your judgment I decided it would be worth a stab at. ...

Ed, Thanks for that link. At that price I have taken the plunge and bought them. So I now have the sockets and fancy top hats and the tubes. Just need to sort the components what I'm missing from my spares box. And of course the loan of a suitable power TX. Initially I intend to use the OPTs from my...

OK Nick/Simon, you've twisted my arm not to dismantle the little 6em7 amp (it is a little gem I have to agree) but I was only going to remove the TXs for a breadboard mock up to see if the 807SE amp sounded good enough for further investment of quality TXs. I wouldn't have removed the chokes, honest...

Nick, The output TX's for the 6em7 amp were spec'd 5K@60ma. I don't think I can use the power TX though. For the 6em7 amp I only needed 325vdc B+ whereas the pentode 807SE requires a max 450v B+ Perhaps I can use the power TX from my WAD KaT6550 amp? I'll have to check the schematics when I get home...

Thanks for the link to Triode Dicks SE version. I'll see if I can get hold of a English translation version that makes sense! Nick, what you reckon to the Schematic of the posted 708SE amp? Would you recommend any changes? As AE do a TX set for this amp I may ask for a quote from them in the new yea...

has anyone built or experience of Single Ended amp using 807 tubes? If so how do you rate this tube? A mate at work has 3-NOS tubes he is offering me cheap. What sort of power TX rating and OPT spec's do I need for such a project? If this has been covered elsewhere my apologies and can you please di...
