Here's my 1k5 measuremnets, these are raw out of the can au naturel before I start tweaking. The first image is the control, the important bit to note is the measurement error at low amplitude and high freq. The measuremnet kit can't quite resolve down at 30mV in -> 0.3mV out, this accounts for the ...

Yes, Ed do that, but for set for about 8v then put teh super reg after it. You wouldn't believe the crap and noise the 317 et al. generates.

cheers,

The top tip is to replace the crappy switched PSU with a decent linear one. Tony found a company selling the PCBs for the super reg that he suggests is the best way to build a linear PSU. 12v down to 8v-ish using our fave 3 legged reg then into the one on the PCB. I can't recall the name Tony did wr...

Hi Simon,

I run them both off the same winding, using a full wave reg. I raised boths reg as they are off the same windings.

Not especially, I had assumed you did just the C3g since doing them all off the one reg might be pushing the reg, its nearly 3 amps, after all. But then you got a nice big heatsink, that was my problem when I tried it all off the one. I also had a 12v TX so I was asking the reg to chuck away too muc...

Dave the bass wrote:Aha, thanks Andrew. That must be a 'spensif way of building a 1watt or so SE amp! Bleeding heavy too I'd imagine.

Re- "coke loaded adodes"... isn't that what faded 70's rock stars used to suffer from?

coke or choke - spensif either way I should imagine.....

That thars a choke loaded anode on them thar triode. Thus presenting a near 'infinite', and much more linear, load to the triode than say a resistor and allows thar triode to swing twice the B+ to boot. There was a thread on the old BB where they talked about "coke loaded adodes", a typo I...

Dallas II

I've been on the hunt for a next project, which will be a set of speakers. I hope to make a start on these once I have completed the 1k5. I'm leaning towards 'horns', rather than OB. Anyway, I'm thinking Dallas II using a Fostex 208ez and super twater to fill out the treble. For the twater, there's ...

For a full wave, you only need half the number of diodes, so, in theory, there will be less diode switching noise. Well that's always been my justification for preferring full-wave.

Hi Steve, You can use a MOSFET, and if you want to make life really hard two of them in a cascode. But the easiest way is these things are these built up ones. Digikey have them in stock, if that's the way you want to go? C4S is way on the limit current wise! Get a few spares, good for blowing up! i...
