I'm not 100% sure about the alnico, but the pickups are the designed by Duncan ones, which tend to be fitted on more upmarket instruments. Edit: Been doing some digging around and found that on the Fender site they quote the pickups as being JB101 http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/duncan-designe...

Wilton Felder in da house?

Getting there.

Is antiskate an issue when your cartridge has a VTF equivalent to the weight of a housebrick?

Hmmm. Reminds me a bit of the lyrics to a song. I was blue and lonely, I couldn't sleep a wink And I could only get unconscious if I'd had to much to drink There was somehow, something wrong somewhere And each day seemed grey and dead The seeds of desperation were growing in my head I needed inspira...

There was a rather lovely track on one of the more recent Crosby/Nash collaborations, so the David Crosby comment was the big clue there.

Awww, yeah, me too, I've never owned one of those Rickenbackers. They split the output from the 2 pickups and call it 'Rick-o-sound' IIRC. S'funny because they're quite often associated with rock muso's but Dave Brubecks Son Chris used a fretless version on this... ... but it doesn't sound like yer...

I have the vinyl, and I like it rather a lot. The playing is slick, and the recording is superb, so the whole is possibly a touch too practised for some. The Isaac Hayes cover "Out of the Ghetto" provides an edgy counterpoint to the overall light, tight, funky stylings of the bulk of the a...
