Re: WTB: Broskie ACF-2

I'd steer clear of ECC99 - harsh and glassy compared to 5687 and 6N6P .
Like you , Paul, I was expecting the ACF-2 from McDonald's papers.

Re: Lemmy RIP.

I hadn't missed that Dave - sad - it's nice to see he got some coverage on the main news though.
It was rather quick in the end wasn't it ?
I'll miss him on the music documentaries !

How did Space Ritual sound ?
Was he on the first HW album - love that .

Re: I'm Officially a Fat Bastard

I notice that most of the main contributors to this thread are struggling long-term . I've made no significant progress myself this year , despite doing more cycling , although I didn't make much effort to diet by calorie restriction, because it's never been much use to me as my energy levels go dow...

Re: Virus

Best wishes, Phil, and to Jean. Christmas time is very often the time when people go - has happened a couple of times in my family.

Re: Latest vinyl 'finds'.

Just got this LP for free :D from a retired work colleague at the weekend. Very generous , given the price of these now , in the Record Collector book ( £150 for a mint one with the poster ! ) . No poster, but how could I complain ! It's a pretty full-on psychedelic record this, more so than 'Family...

Re: Nothing In Particular

This one won't be a 'fixed' , but it does have vertical drop-outs so would work in that form with some of the clever adjustable hubs you can get nowadays. While you are certainly well-endowed ..(wait for it ) with frame-builders in the SE and London, please don't hesitate to ask if you need an older...

Re: While I had a spare moment

Yes , makes sense as long as you can get the head-amp in a shielded box (from motor fields). Then there's more current and voltage driving the longer wires to the phono amp , which has to be good.

All this talk of cyclepaths on the 'Virus' thread leads me neatly into .....
( Nice workbench, too . What you can't see is that the floor is covered with stainless steel sheet ) .

Re: Virus

Good 'ish' news then Steve ! Interesting to have info on the 10kHz thing - explains some observations - but most of the treble tone and detail is there by 10KHz - just the last bit of shimmer or 'air' missing . Those steroids could help you build up your amp-carrying muyscles for future Owstons, of ...

Re: What about BNC connectors ... phono ?

Shane, I like your idea of using a DIN :D This is on the tonearm>phono amp run, so it makes sense given there's a DIN on the other end, into the Mayware arm . I like the idea of having one plug that goes into the back of the phono amp, with the four cartridges connections & tonearm earth . I hat...

Re: What about BNC connectors ... phono ?

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking BNC connectors are more suited to coaxial then - maybe not ideal . The Eichman RCA's are making more and more sense ( see blurb on those ) and looking around I realise I have several pairs knocking around the house on other wires. I also got some advice from Colin...

Re: What about BNC connectors ... phono ?

Ah, thanks.
Silver Eichmann's could be the best bet if still available , smaller contact areas too.
I'll check HiFi Coll. website.

Good luck with your trip btw . Fingers crossed on the tapped horn measurements !
