Re: 45 SET

I had a bit of a play with vtadiy.com's loadline calculator as it's easier than building spreadsheets like you Paul. https://www.vtadiy.com/loadline-calculators/loadline-calculator/#calculator The results are a little different from Paul's - it's based on Koren spice models. This is the 45 with 4k6 ...

Re: Mofo

One more as it wouldnt go on the last post. . 20231108_123753.jpg . Under £200 all in. I use it with bass drivers so it was interesting to hear it full range at Dave's. It does lose out to a SET in the mid and treble, but the bass is nice and clean. The 2A3 amp though... beautiful. All the wonder of...

Re: Mofo

The advice at B&Q was not to use a rattle can but furniture paint as they felt I'd get a better finish. 4 coats later, it's okay. From a distance. It doesn't seem to be particularly resilient though. . 20231102_125107.jpg . With cheapo magnetic computer vents to allow ventilation. . 20231102_125...

Re: Mofo

I took my MoFo (and D3a-2A3 SET) round to Bostod's earlier this morning, dodging the heavy rain. And I realised I never posted any photos of my "proper" build. There were a few MoFo threads at the time, I think this was the one I piggy backed, so I'll bung them here. This was a cheap build...

Re: 45 SET

Interesting stuff Paul. I woke up this morning thinking about a low voltage 26 direct coupled to 45, but this is a very different direction. I need to study reread your posts when I have a bit more time, but I don't have any 10k OPTs, only 5k, so might not be a goer anyway.

Re: 45 SET

Yeah yeah, I know. :-) But sometimes things just sound better. I'd quite like to try a 26 driving the 45, but that gets a lot more complicated. I'm driven by detail and openness - yeah real hi fi words. Dont ask me to explain that! But this helps me make more sense of the melody, and pretty much eve...

Re: 45 SET

18 months ago I built this amp - time flies. I haven't done anything to it in that time except enjoy it. Marvellous. I keep meaning to box it up but then have nagging thoughts that I could make improvements. Improvements might just be differences though... The old article from Sound Practices includ...

That's very light for mahogany.

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Impressive. In a way it's a shame to have covered up mahogany, but the maple looks great. I take it the body is flat rather than gently curved?

A big lump of mahogany can't have been cheap? Is it preferred for guitars, or just something you had laying around?

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

:thumbright: to JCLPCB. And others like PCBWay. It has to be very simple point-to-point now for me to bother, it's easy enough, and satisfying, to draft a PCB. And so cheap.

I'm interested in your veneering technique when you get to that bit. I haven't done any yet but must try sometime.
