Sounds like a good set-up Steve.

W'll have to have one of those mini-fests before long
what with the smaller baffles and everything

The brick pillars around the entrance are the driver and pre stage valves
and of course we know what the domes at each end are meant to represent

Very nice Steve! Why Alexandra Palace? Martin Thanks Martin :) The name "Alexandra Palace" was inspired by Morgan Jones' "Crystal Palace" push-pull amp, which uses a quad of 13E1s, fed by a nest of 12 6J5s. The Victorian Crystal Palace was a huge piece of glass architecture, whi...

Oo-er! Changed me mind. Looking at things logically, I wouldn't like the main HT to fail whilst the screens were still active from another supply. ....could be messsy in the wrong circumstances. I'll regulate the screens from the existing HT supply. Meanwhile here is a glow shot of the amplifier, w...

Mike H wrote:"Completely separate screen supply" ?

As in, completely separate power supply?
That's what I'm thinking of.

Choke filtering, regulation and all that jazz.

Replaced the AC heating on the pre stage with a DIYHiFiSupply module.

Nice.

I'll do the driver stage later today.

Looks nice Martin.

I'm using a 6AQ5 power pentode to drive my 13E1s.

I like pentode drivers.

Looking at that picture, the whole thing has the makings of a nice open baffle system.

As Dave has hinted.

Get em out of the boxes Phil.

The forthcoming 833 amp driving those drivers as OBs?..... Awesome!

The next thing I'm going to attempt, in the new year is a completely separate screen supply for the two pentodes.

Those spare Hammond 150H 8mA chokes I have will be ideal, given the low screen grid current requirement.

Should be lotsa fun :)

It'd be a bit heavy though :)

Here is the circuit diagram for the latest masterpiece
It's had quite a bit of work done on it since the last iteration.

I don't know how much odd order stuff is going on, but the sine waves look symmetrical on both sides and only seem to exhibit a tiny bit of phase lag, so there can't be much distortion going on. If its visible I would guess you are up into 5% distortion, there can still be a lot going on that you c...
