Re: testing

I can't get 'in' and 'out' to work at the same time
I think that may be more of an issue with Audacity,

Re: testing

I don't know, audiotester we certainly great when I used it. Not sure what other is out there. Audacity would be enough to check its all working.

Re: What i have ended up with

But when I found I didn't need any gain
Just remember (in case you need to) that there is both voltage and current gain. Just because you have enough of the first doesn't mean...

Re: Zero emission road vehicles.

ergo reaction rates also fall.
And it makes far more sense if you remember the temperature is actually in a value like kelvin where 0C is not "zero" temperature (for those who haven't done A Level Physics or Chem).

Re: Zero emission road vehicles.

I think it’s fine if you have an overnight power source to plug into, leaving an EV in freezing conditions at an airport for a few weeks with a low battery is going to be more of an issue. Oh, well that’s just another example of poor user practice. The user manual clearly states that in such circum...

Re: On My Bench.

Yep, no reason why you should not try it. You could add a current limiter in series with the output if there was any DHT startup worries.

Re: testing

Should be more than good enough Simon. The limit of the Millet interface only became a problem when I started doing solid state stuff, and even then only at the outer edge of performance. Worked fine for me for a good number of years.

Re: testing

Yep I added copper screening tape and a lower noise input protector that Andrew had from Keysight. I remember he was worried it was Keysight ip but I found it in TAOE later.

Re: testing

The millet box is still very useful. I still have mine, though not using it anymore as I have the R&S, but before that it was very useful. M-Audio seem to have drivers for it up to Windows 7. But another USB interface would be fine with it as well. https://m-audio.com/support/drivers-search Make...

Re: On My Bench.

Just to repeat what I found when trying (years ago) a HF switching supply for a 211 heater, you could hear the beat between a 18kHz audio tone and the 40kHz or so heating signal. However that was with the supply producing 40kHz AC output, so you may find its very very different with DC and a bit of ...

Re: PP3521 idht

I should keep out of this, but... Not sure anyone would argue that a unbipassed cathode resistor will produce lower distortion for a given output voltage. It is, after all, adding local negative feedback. The question should be does the higher anode resistance (with its attached lower PSRR) and lowe...

And its easy to add extra turns to a torroid secondary as long as the center is not potted.

Ant wrote: Thu Jan 11, 2024 6:51 pm They look like they are already insulated to me, so is the earth floating inside the amp?
Or is there a wire to the back of the iec socket?
Also appears to be a bit of a busbar cut off so where did that go originally?
I think what may look like an insulated washer is just the solder tag.
