Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

I've assembled the Neurochrome regulator PCBs this morning. Just need to drill the metalwork that they'll be bolted to (and will act as the heatsink) and I'll be able to test it...

Re: Remember These?

Thanks Steve. I'm waiting for a transformer to power the heaters from Toroidy in Poland so I'll do that when it arrives.

Re: Remember These?

Given the above, I would have thought that, warm the cathode for one minute then turn the HT on either auto or manual is perfectly acceptable. That's what I'll stick with... Given the soft-start of the Neurochrome regulator I think I'll dispense with the delayed turn-on of the B+ for the 6SN7 drive...

Re: Remember These?

Can I just clarify what people mean when they talk about soft-start? is it; (a) - apply power(filaments and B+) together but ramp up the B+ slowly or (b) - pre-heat the filaments before turning on B+ after some period of time or (c) - pre-heat the filaments before slowly ramping up the B+ voltage af...

Re: Remember These?

Is the speaker facing back towards the amplifier in the first schematic part of some enhanced feedback mechanism, or did you just run out of paper

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

As the old saying goes. after the feast comes the reckoning! I've added about 6lbs to my mass over the last fortnight and started on my new year resolutions yesterday with a 20mile ride at 16.2mph - not too bad after 10days off the bike. My resolution is to get down to 12st, which will entail losing...

What, you've got a granny ring! My drivetrain is typically something like 53/36 on the front and 11-28 on the back; I can do 18% or so on that.

Re: Remember These?

There may very well be gains from one of those KK cathode sinks, but I think settling with the TL783 for now, might be the best plan. If we plan some room in our respective chassis' for the K&K cathode sinks, they can be incorporated later on. :) Yes, I agree Steve. I will build with TL783s fir...

Re: Remember These?

Great work Steve, it's good to see you're wringing more performance out of the breadboard build. I imagine the amp will work really well with Mr Shiels' speakers. I've achieved zero progress on my own project so far this break as we've been entertaining every day - last guests today so hopefully I'l...

Those baubles will undoubtedly exert some sort of, as yet unknown, micromolecularorthomorphicgravitas that will have improved the sound quality by 157.67%. Just Imagine if you had red ones available.
