I believe it also restores default settings as well.
Which is probably worth doing anyway as you have no idea how its currently configured.

Guess I should not ask how you come to have a PC with a password protected bias.

I would think its main merit is simplicity. Though it IS using a valve of course, just not an additional one. I would guess its main failing is lack of balance, it only gives balance if the load is equal on both sides, which I can see it may not be in some cases. And I can see balance falling off at...

Mike is the man to talk to you about the Maplin amps. You may also want to have a look at the Radford phase splitter.

I had a speed read through that Wiki page, interesting it was used to try to reduce distortion in Telephone repeater amps not 'hifi' or radiograms as such. Yep, that was the area were low noise, low distortion and high reliability mattered. If you look at the last generation of valves (the space ag...

Who can say, I know I can;t. But one thing is a bit odd. The site says: here are a number of advantages to the hand-built PrimaLuna over the cheaply mass produced AVC. Firstly, the PrimaLuna uses ONLY point to point hardwiring in the signal path, unlike the AVC which has a large, cheap PCB holding m...

If that is what the manual says it does, then it should be fine.

I'm not into hair shirt hifi
Though 3 valve amps may be seen by some as being very close :-)

I can't say, but you should be able to download the manual from the makers website.

Most motherboards have a jumper that will do what you describe.

These networks in PP amps to 'cover over' instability.... are they usually RC ccts or summat? Yes, you will normally see a small cap in series with the feedback resistor to increase feedback with rising frequency, and often a cap and resistor in series with the first stage anode to reduce gain with...

There is normally a BIOS setting to disable it, F12 or whatever it says on the initial boot to get into the setup.

For future reference: when you say "deleted" do you mean uninstalled?

Also disabling it just disables it, windows still thinks its there.

I though PP somehow cancelled out ( an amount) of harmonic distortion by the very nature of being PP. Even order distortion yes. does not sound good. Is there necessarily a phase shift of the feedback (presumably, relative to the original signal?) If this varies on frequency, well wouldn't this nor...

But, how is negative feedback (of the typical amounts) we see in amp design supposed to improve an amplifier's sound quality? IIRC it widens bandwidth (at the cost of gain) and also aids stability doesn't it? DTB Depends on what you mean by instability, within the range of frequency where the feedb...

You do seem to have more problems than most with their computer Phil, I wonder if the regular cleaning of the registry is doing any damage?

I've changed my mind again; at least, I think I have. Would anyone be kind enough as to run past us again the theoretical aspects of why we don't like negative feedback? First one that springs to mind is the low order highest level harmonics that make up the distortion are converted into high order...
