Have you ever considered a career in ultra high quality furniture building Colin Hi Dave. Yes, this is something I would dearly like to do but when I retire. Only problem, I'd need to find room for a proper workshop. I doubt the missus will tolerate me taking over the dining room / conservatory for...

Nice work Dave, however with all that exposed end grain the birch ply I think they would have looked much better finished in a nice real wood veneer and wouldn't have cost that much extra. Perhaps on your next pair? Looking forward to to your report on how they sound. Have to agree with earlier comm...

Well after a weeks rest and relaxation in Bulgaria by the hotel pools with a chilled beer or cocktail I have managed this last few days to finish one of the Oak covered MLTls. I'm really pleased with it though the Oak veneer was a right B to use. Finish is 2-coats of spirit based sanding sealer foll...

Hi Cressy, Thanks for the compliments guys. I guess practice makes perfect. The veneer came from John Boddy Timber in Boroughbridge, Yorkshire, just off the A1(M) at junction 48. I think it is crown cut veneer. The American Cherry sheets I purchased were 40cm x 32cm and cost around £14 a sheet. May ...

Dave, Your findings are similar to mine. One reason I placed my original MLTLs on the acrylic bases with spikes resting on these with locating washers. definitely decouples the speakers from the suspended floor and thick carpet. I have mine not quite so toed in as you so perhaps more experimenting i...

I see you've gone for speed stripes... is that so the Northern Variant can keep up with their Southern brethren Narrrah! It's a Northern thing and hides all the poor joints. I blame the missus as she thought they looked better with the banding than without. Andrew says he likes the look but the jur...

The latest generation of MLTL speakers
If you have spotted the pic on DTB thread re his Fonton build you may have spotted the American Cherry MLTL's. These are for Andrew Lehane. I am building another pair in European Oak for my son Simon and there is presently a big debate going on whether these should have the inlay banding on them as ...

I agree with Cressy that hole saws can be good if you can find one the right diamter for the driver hole to need and do need to be used in a drill press. However do not be tempted in buying any those multi blade hole saws. The ones with several diameter saw blades on one single arbor these are crap....
