Probably not , but I'll need to do a bit of manhandling of an Ariel speaker to get the wires to reach the RH channel , then I can check bass/timing between the two supplies .

I'll use 1 x 0.6mm single core up to about 1A , but above that I'll go to stranded for more core area. I suppose that's slightly above 3A/mm^2 so a bit more than what Paul would use for transformers - but that's probably OK for a short run of wire in air .

First impressions are very good . Seems to be plenty of 'presence' and detailed clean treble . I have the 300B amp back in business and now symmetrical apart from the Mk.1 DHT supply on the Left channel, new Mk.2 on the Right channel . Bud Purvine 2A3 'A' outputs on both sides, using 4-ohm taps . Th...

Mk.2

Aha !
I see you hid some C0Gs underneath - am I right ?
Plus the bonus green glowy thing ...

Decided to stick with 300B's and re-adjust the shunt PS back to 450V . Less work overall .
May be running later today, or at least tomorrow .

A CCS feeding a shunt reg is generally better but that is getting into Nick territory :D It doesn't have to be too complicated if the current swing on the driver is not too great . The simplest version is the CCS into a couple of VR tubes ( eg. OD3's to give you 300V ) . If the VR tubes are by-pass...

Steve - very impressed with how much you've achieved . I regard sugar as the worst thing for weight gain , not fat , so if you can carry on avoiding it as much as possible , then I'm sure you'll keep the weight off in the future. I'd not be surprised either that 8 cups of tea x 2 sugars per day migh...

For a Wien bridge apparently .
But maybe you could trim the -V side with a resistor to get 9.0V ?

If that was the amp you played on Saturday before the Pass F2, then it sounded really nice. I didn't notice any probs, and the tone in mids and treble was excellent . I tend to concentrate on mids and HF when confronted with a new amp, so I may have missed something in bass or timing - I expect Nick...

Sounds pretty close to me - straight off from stock parts ! Is there not some facility to adjust those regulators ? Also, when it gets to the Wein bridge, is there not some set-up 'calibration ' you can use to get around this slight difference ? I'd best let the brainy people chip-in though, not hav...

James - you're can't pull off that DIY Audio-stylee convincingly : everybody here knows you've actually designed and built things yourself  Alex - have you run the 300B with & without the LM317 current sink ( I mean, with normal cathode bias perhaps ) ? I say this because the 317 used in t...

He's a good guy Pete - ploughing his own furrow, doing some original stuff. I met him in 2004 ( and 2005 ? ) at ETF .
Yes, those valves look quite versatile.
