Hmmm...
I tend to scour charity shops for records. Many of them cost less than £1, so, even if they sound awful, I can make novelty hats with them (melt them with boiling water, mould them to a dish).

My calculator: http://www.sharpdirect.co.uk/content/ebiz/sharp/invt/elw531b/el531_large.jpg Far too many buttons, but taking A-level maths means I should find use for them. It can do stuff that most others can't, so it's really useful in lessons when people are working stuff out with all the bracket...

Ohms law. Thats still quite popular innit? :-) DTB You'd be surprised - over half of my O-level Physics class either can't recite it, or don't know it's called Ohm's Law - and that's the top set!! I need to get myself some 1950s kit - I've got a couple of things from the '70s, but they're not exact...

Here's how I usually work it out... For every +3dB of output, you double the power input. For -3dB, you half it. Starting with a base efficiency of 89dB (from the MS website), the impedance of the speakers is between 4 and 8 ohm. So, assuming 6 ohms, using (v^2)/R, at 1 volt input, you get 1/6 of a ...

Possibly, though they seem to need to be listened to from a fair distance (just didn't work in my bedroom, but great in the lounge, where Mum moans about them). If you want to learn more about crossovers and things like that, I can't recommend Elliott's pages enough. http://sound.westhost.com/articl...

Oh, something else to consider - what kind of amplifier will you be powering the speakers with? Also... According to this, how loud do you listen? http://www.gcaudio.com/resources/howtos/loudness.html The other (more accurate way) would be to play some music, and measure the voltage across the speak...
