Back on the train again today, popping down to Fareham, Hampshire, to see my mum.

It was a beautiful sunrise over the Somerset Levels

Mike H wrote: Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:52 am What's the background in photos, is it a mat?
Pretty sure it's one of these Mike. I use this sort of mat quite a lot for various DIY activities, th polymer is really grippy but also nice and soft.

Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC

When I was testing the RTZ, one of the media player arrangements I used was Volumio and it worked very well - the base version is free. https://volumio.com/en/get-started/ It is essentially a pre-packaged Linux distribution that you just load onto a USB thumb drive and boot from. I used an Intel NUC...

Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC

In other posts I mentioned that last Friday i got the train up to Yorkshire for the day and had the pleasure of listening to Steve C's new 6V6 amp in the company of Steve, Mrs. C and Simon. But, great though it was to hear the amp, it wasn't the main reason for my trip; that was to take the breadboa...

Re: what are you doing ?

I've just returned from my first proper outdoor ride of 2024 - 60miles around a very cold Somerset in the company of 14 colleagues and friends - just above freezing but thankfully mostly dry roads and no ice. The ride was to celebrate one of the friend's 40th birthday and for him the ride was '40 fo...

Only for the first five miles, as far as Cogload Junction (near Durston), as my route today was via London - Taunton to Paddington, then Kings Cross to ooop Norf.

pre65 wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 9:11 pm Did you enjoy the train journey Ray ?
I did Phil, a part of the network I've not traveled on before, every train was bang on time and none were too crowded. Enjoyed the trip, listened to some podcasts and had a read.

Cheers Simon, a little more time would have been nice, and a bit more air time for your Soekris DAC, but I guess you can pop over again...

I had the pleasure of listening to Steve's amp through his Mission speakers today. Very nice, extremely easy to listen too. I would call it a win!

Re: what are you doing ?

Currently on a train heading for King's Cross after a trip up North to visit Steve C; Simon popped over too. It was very good to Steve 'back on his feet'. We enjoyed some very nice music and a good chat. Thanks are due to Mrs. C for looking after us. Here's hoping we can have another get together la...
