Hmmm, I have no experience of mercury tilt switches in hi-fi, but when I was into restoring classic motorcycles, I did use one to replace the ever dodgy contact switch for the brake light. Worked a treat.....as soon as the brakes were applied, the inertia made the switch contact and light come on. :D

There you go, that's two of us deluded now......it's catching you know  Seriously, we would li...

WANTED - WAD 2A3PSE

Ok, don't laugh, this is a serious inquiry and I'm happy to take the ridicule that may come from it :D :D Some of you guys, several years back bought WAD 2A3PSE kits. I know many were altered and chopped about, but if anyone still has a complete or very near to complete original and would like to se...

Yes, it's an advert but it's relevant so probably not spam. Nice prices (assuming American Dollars or even GBP) if you want those valves.

I will re-visit the TD160 thou and try it again with new plinth and maybe wood arm board this time That is a very good idea, Colin. I can't really comment on TD160, but my original TD150 absolutely pi**ed on the performance of a Rega 3. We swapped out my Dad's Rega for the Thorens and now my brothe...

Yes, exactly. After 30 years in the police service, this statement does not surprise me one iota. I wouldn't doubt, with what I know about how things are done that this is more about the UK/USA governments not liking a company acting independantly offering a product that may or may not work. Actuall...

Thanks for your replies. It seems to me that the cheapest of all, Sovtek's continue to be well regarded. This is what I'm using now. Thereafter, Shuguang 2A3C are good within the affordable stakes. Certainly like others, I'd be interested in any views from those with Shuguang 'Treasure' series. This...

2A3

So, what's your preferred or best sounding make? New Chinese, Russian, Hong-Kong meshplate or anything NOS etc? I'm just revisiting an old amp I've not played with for a while which is 2A3 output and I still like it alot. I'd be interested in any recommendations on 2A3's currently available. Thanks....

Dave,

Where abouts are you? Anywhere near Bristol? If so, PM me and I can arrange a valve amp demo for you so you can get a flavour of all this.

Regards,

Greg
