Re: Lii Audio Speakers

Thanks for the steer guys, I'll look elsewhere then.

380 GMF units do look promising, but around £1500 for a pair...

Re: Lii Audio Speakers

Now Colin is getting on with building some Quasar OBs for Nick's Lii Audio 10in drive units I guess I'll have to make use of mine at some point. Might still go with the Pass SLOB design but the Quasar is so well regarded... Any thoughts on these units as bass helper for the Lii units? They were used...

Re: PERSPEX QUASAR ver 2.0 prototype build

Yes, well worth a punt. Their own 15” base helper looks interesting too. I was looking at them back along Paul but, as Nick pointed out, they're less efficient than the 10inch full-range drive units. Here's an implementation of an OB using them that I linked to before; http://www.modelpromo.nl/The%...

Re: What I've been doing during lockdown

Ed, I have had some ply laser cut ply before (for an earlier wingsail) and the results were first rate - I'll see if i can dig out who i used though I imagine the service providors will all be much the same.

Re: What I've been doing during lockdown

Super project Colin.

You've got me thinking about digging out my 2metre RC catamaran project, for which I started designing a two section wingsail. Principles are similar but the stresses are greater on a wingsail so need to build stronger/stiffer.

Re: Dual EDS 1000 and airprodigy linear arm build

Airfix have got a new model of the Vulcan due out this year - new tooling, not a re-issue;

Re: Dual EDS 1000 and airprodigy linear arm build

Nice Ant. As we've picked up on the RC model elevator/tailplane structure in Colin's Quasar build thread, can I ask if that's Hood, Bismarck and maybe Warspite next to the new plinth? They look like 1:700 scale? Trumpeter make a fantastic 1:200 scale kit of HMS Hood - wouldn't mind it as a project b...

Re: Nothing In Particular

I was reflecting on the topic of space flight/exploration with a friend earlier - It's amazing just how far mankind has come in my lifetime - Sputnik was launched just 10days after I was born and it's entirely possible I'll still be around to see a manned Mars mission! If you wind the clock backward...

Re: The Owston that never was..

I guess I would have brought my 300B SE-OTLs along again but this time accompanied by my 'no-DAC' DSD decoder as the source. Hopefully that nice Mr. Shiels would have let me use his speakers again because otherwise I would just have played Simon & Garfunkel's 'Sound of Silence' three times. I ha...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Do we need that sarcastic option you were going to introduce Nick?

I have to say I was a bit disappointed to see a fairly conventional capsule a top the rocket - I thought they were going to have someone actually driving the Tesla car this time.

Re: PERSPEX QUASAR ver 2.0 prototype build

The Quasar development is great - I've been waiting to see what Nick was going to do with the Lii drive units - mine are still sitting in their boxes.

Looking good Colin.

Interesting about the plane too.

Re: Vintage Silicon

I think you'll find it's a worthwhile project Ant. I've no idea how it'll measure up to Ed's B1 buffer so will be interested to see what you think. Did you manage to sort out a +/-15V power supply? On the basis of what I've heard so far I'm going to proceed with another build using a series switched...
