Unfortunately quite true! Unless it was a bodge, but looked factory original. Might've been a replacement solenoid with wrong size terminal fitted. 'Twas a 1,000cc automatic, can't remember what year. Early - mid 1980's I'm guessing. I ended up splicing it into the main alternator wire with ...

'member I suggested try a mix of different sorts? So like an elec for the big value, then summat else smaller for those frequencies the elec can't quite manage, summat else for the spikes or whatever the second one can't quite manage, so on and so on Someone once suggested to me Rifa PEG124 elec and...

http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/images/misc/thlaugh.gif Seriously I once had a Mini, all the power for the whole car came off one 6mm blade connector on the starter solenoid. Inevitable that it should get hot and go loose at monotonously regular intervals. Never went out without at least plie...

No don't get me started ...

It's a resistance in series with an inductance in parallel with a capacitance ...

Oh wait there has to be resonance somewhere ...

I think I actually made something like this once

LOL ~ also known as "The Prince Of Darkness"

Familiar to almost anyone who's had an old British bike or car

Yes it becomes an engineering quandary all of its own

It occurs to me (cos have thought about it before) could have a couple of wires in the umbilical that are just a 'U' loop link, at the PSU end this loop completes a circuit for a relay coil or summat like that. On the mains live say. So it am do not work at all if unplugged.

Also and as well as I happen to know (cos he told me) he deliberately wants to alter the primary impedance 'on the fly' to see an immediate effect, i.e. most cnveniently done by switching different secondary loads. Yeah things can get complicated enough just with a pure resistor load, don't start br...

Mmm, one unforseen snag is 'creepage', just a little bit of damp and off it goes. A coat of insulating lacquer spray like for EHT stuff problee a good idea.

And, as I heard once, a good insulator is merely a bad conductor.

No 50k's tho. A 50k is just £15.11. But if we got a bulk buy together they'd only be £11.34 each. If we bought 25. From where? Those prices  <faints> DTB Some I was looking at before were much more than that. :D Can't find 'em now tho. The farnell ones seem to have disappeared. .

You don't know how often some people get them scratched. Nah one individual wouldn't, I'm just saying if someone wanted to make lots of naughty copies of iTunes tracks for all their mates or whoever there's ways and means despite whatever the imposed limitations may be. Got an idea iTunes ma...
