Quote from Gary Kaufman on Tube DIY Asylum.

"I tried them a while back, when I was breadboarding 45's and 46's. If I recall correctly (it was a while ago) The best sound from the 47 was at 285v B+ with a 500 ohm cathode resistor. Sound was not nearly as nice as a 46 or 45 IMHO. "

I have asked Tim about other methods of shipping.

I was going to order 6 off 200H chokes.

2 for 26 pre, 2 for 6DN7 and 2 for something else. Lets see what his reply is.

Interesting.

I read that with DC filaments the grid bias should be -15.3V and 450 ohms is mentioned as well.

Looking at the "specifications" -16.5V and 31ma are quoted which would be 532 ohms.

American "Hot Rods"

If anyone has an interest in American "Hot Rods" there is a programme on at 7pm on Quest (freeview 38 ) called "American hotrod" where they show a company building Hotrods.

I found it quite interesting and they are starting on a new build tonight.

That's the one I'm trying to get rid of. :? Oh dear ! There is a Windows update that installs a newer search system and I could not fathom out how to make it do what the old one did. Funnily enough I never found the "dog" to be a problem, but I normally have the sound off.

@ Phil when you collect your bits do you want FETs and heatsinks as well and if heatsinks do you want ones with clips or ones with holes? Decisions decisions . FET's would be nice if you have enough and heatsinks with holes please. What afternoons are you free next week ? are you free ?

Right. Go to "control panel" then "add or remove programs" tick the box "show updates" (at the top) then scroll down till you find the search update file & uninstall it. I cleaned the registry afterwards. The "old" search routine should now be back in use....
