Well only in the sense that you just bang a resistor in, but a ccs you have to breadboard to find the necessary current seting resistor, and you have to consider dissipation you have to install a 3 legged device (or better two 3 leged devices) and gate stoppers and curent set resistor. Only in that ...

Going back to the 6em7. The struggle with this valve is always the operation of the VA which is section 1. With a high mu valve what we always require which we can't have is more B+ so that we can have more resistance as a load, which gives it more linearity and more voltage gain. this is where, in ...

I agree with the caution especially sharing the voltage across a few resistors.
Morgan Jones said the resistors make more noise the more voltage across them. furthermore manufacturers today are not expecting their components to face up to the voltages of yesterday.

Just thinking is the fs of the typical guitar speaker 70 to 80hz to go with the bottom E string played open added to this effect or is the effect due to the fs of the driver? Maybe this is why they make lead guitar inputs "bright" so that this resonant peak is mitigated? My 12 Legend is bl...

That lot sounds interesting Paul and much food for thought :) Well take from it the idea of connecting g3 with g2 to the plate. OK - after much calculating and burning the midnight oil, I have come up with the following set of shunt-regulated power supplies for the project........................ ....

Ant have you thought about using un etched copper clad pcb as the top? Maplin do maximum size of 12" by 8". That may be a problem. Also it may not have sufficient tensile strength. But it gives a good ground plane. It could be laminated onto something else for stregth, i.e. bond it to a th...

Now then our Steve. You have a true Pentode here with no internal connections, so you can try a few different things. Normally when we use a beam tube as a triode we don't get the choice because the beam plates are internally tied to the cathode. But the correct way to triode operate a true pentode ...

Mike, was this in Tetrode mode or triode? Have you tried that Alexander kitick type eedback [are we calling it Schade or something?]? http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z10/v1505guy/se807_sch_2.gif I ask because on my 6v6 Beam Tetrode I have added a 320k pot and a 100k resistor. the resistor makes s...

Looks like the one you have on order. The other one is too high. Only way I can see to use it would be with the 5u4 choke input but with a small first cap somewhere around 2uF to tweak up the voltage, again this type of thing you adjust on test by paralleling small value polyprop's until the desired...
