Sat nav having a laugh. Plan B. - use logic level (5V) 4-bit BCD, only needs 4 wires. Have a BCD > decimal decoder / driver on the board, open collector outputs up to 30V / 80mA. I.e. a SN7445. Able to select up to ten different inputs. The BCD comes from, whatever. Simplest, a binary coded rotary switch. More musings may...
