I have 3.3uF on g2 - sounds like it might be worth trying something a little larger perhaps? Maybe 10uF? You want to aim for a time constant that's longer than the lowest frequency you want to reproduce. I've learned the minimum seems to be a ratio like 100k / 1uF. So if screen resistor is 1M, 100n...

Anyone with pentode experience care to comment? The other thing we did is place a very large cap (3x as big as previous) across g2 to cathode. As a result, the bass and presence was very much improved Yes I've had that experience too. Quite often old circuits show quite small values for virtually e...

Thanks Andrew, yes the analogy is like electrolytics in series for more working Voltage, should really use shunt resistors in case of leakage. Diodes have reverse leakage as well ~ imagine two diodes in series, if the reverse leakage of one is more that the other, then the other's PIV may be exceede...

, my secondary was 1100V so should have been OK). Anyway, one leg of the bridge broke down, it took me a while to find the fault. I'll have to build a new bridge with 16 diodes I think. If you're going to use diodes in series like that for more reverse V capability, think you might have to put high...

Interesting data, Mike f'rinstance NB Vibration noise (by RA=2 KOhm), mV £150 pretty expensive stuff, eh! Yes very interesting, is that how it looked to you on the web page? Only I see it as less than or equal to sign. Which I can't duplicate on this forum, as it needs the Symbol font. http://livin...
