When one stops working I pull them both out and "bung" the Chinese ones in.

Never (ever  ) bothered to check why. They are still both working though. :D :D

As the GM70 amp is undergoing "modifications" the 300b / ECL82 amp is back in position. My pair of EH gold grids is playing, and they do sound a little better than the Chinese 300b. One gold grid has proved problematic in the past, but both are still going strong after an hours playing, so...

No what I am saying is that the DCR is whatever it is, the winder will have aimed at a DCR, normally if it works out that he can find space for thicker wire then the DCR will be less, but as thats normally considered a good thing they probably wont tell anyone. Just explaining why it may be adverti...

I'm wearing my "thicko" hat at the moment !

Not sure I understand what Nick is saying. The DCR of a choke you have is what it is. Does it change in use ?

If I read on the higher range ( 320K or 32K ) I get a steady 550R, but if I go down a bit ( 3200R ) the reading just fluctuates. Phil, have you got an old analogue moving coil type meter?, they usually work OK on inductive components. DTB No, only got the DMM. I blew all the others up. I thi...

Choke DCR

Is choke DCR as measured with a multimeter ?

I have some HFC 40H @ 30ma chokes. HFC list the DCR at 700R and according to my DMM they are 550R.

The difference is not a problem as such, just want to be sure.
